Exmouth RNLI Lifeboats assist in emergencies on Exmouth seafront

Exmouth RNLI lifesavers attended two separate emergencies in a multi agency response on Exmouth seafront last night.

At about 7.25pm yesterday Saturday 13 August 2022 the crew of Exmouth inshore lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II were returning to Exmouth Lifeboat Station following an earlier rescue when they were waved down by individuals on Exmouth beach opposite the Cavendish Hotel.

The crew were directed to a 29 year old male who was unconscious at that location.  The crew immediately assessed his condition, gave oxygen and administered first aid until the arrival of the Exmouth Coastguard Team, Devon Air Ambulance and HART who then took over the care of the casualty.

Later that evening, at around 7.50pm the volunteer crew of Exmouth RNLI All Weather Lifeboat 13-03 R & J Welburn had also just completed an earlier rescue and was in the process of being recovered on Exmouth Beach between Mickey’s Restaurant and the Lifeboat Station. Their attention was drawn to a group waving from a small rib just offshore.

The lifeboat crew, together with their shore crew, attended to one occupant on the vessel that had suffered a back injury and was in acute pain. Members of the crew administered first aid treatment whilst others helped recover the rib ashore.

The individual was kept comfortable until the arrival of the HART team who then took over the care of the casualty.
