Rob Langenberg from Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands has been visiting Exmouth for the last 30 years with his wife, Lia. Rob presented Exmouth lifeboat station with his first seascape work during a recent holiday to south Devon.

The Langenberg family first came to Exmouth to shoot in the competitions at the Exmouth Archery Centre. Rob and his son, Vincent were keen archers and quickly became friends with Roy and Andrew Stott while they were staying at Dawlish on holiday.

20 years ago, Roy and Andrew joined Exmouth Lifeboat station as Crew volunteers, so Rob who has become a well-known artist for his paintings of horses, decided as a project to paint Shannon Lifeboat R and J Welburn in rough seas, having just seen photographs.

The oil painting of the state-of-the-art lifeboat is now hanging with pride at Exmouth Lifeboat Station to inspire all the station’s volunteers.
