Exmouth RNLI assigned to report of two persons in the River Exe off Exton

Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew were assigned tonight following a sighting of two individuals seen in mud flats in the River Exe west of Exton.

At 20:06hrs tonight, Thursday 24th September 2020, H.M. Coastguard tasked the Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, D-755 Peggy-D  to a report of a sighting of two individuals in the River Exe west of Exton. Devon and Cornwall Police Officers, the Police Helicopter and Exmouth Coastguard were also alerted to the incident.

The Lifeboat launched at 20:14hrs, manned by the lifesaving charity’s volunteer crew – Scott Ranft, Harry Griffin and David Preece.  It immediately made it way to the location of the sighting where, together with the other specialist search and rescue assets, commenced a detailed and thorough check of the area.

After a comprehensive search by all rescue personel with nothing being found, all units were stood down by H.M. Coastguard at 21:10hrs tonight.

The Inshore Lifeboat returned to station and was back on service a short time afterwards.
