Exmouth RNLI launch to assist broken down powerboat

At 3.02pm today Monday 11 July 2022, H.M. Coastguard requested the launch of Exmouth RNLI all weather lifeboat 13-03 R & J Welburn to a report of a broken down 21 foot powerboat about a mile off the coast of Budleigh Salterton.

The volunteer crew launched at 3.12pm, located the boat at 3.24pm but were unable to restart the engine. They assessed the situation and established a tow back in to Exmouth Marina where the boat was safely moored. The occupant was uninjured and did not require medical attention.

On completion of the tasking the all weather lifeboat returned to Exmouth Lifeboat Station where it was back on service at 5.30pm.

Exmouth RNLI volunteer lifesavers who took part in the assignment were :

All Weather Lifeboat :  Coxswain : Roy Stott, Lifeboat Mechanic : Andy Stott and crew Charles Swales, James Edge and Geoff Mills.  

Other volunteers involved were Deputy Launch Authority, Rick Newcombe. Shore Crew – SLARS : Henry Mock, Head Launcher : Neil Cannon and crew Ed Steele, Mark Cockman, Jake Richards and Ed Thomas.
