Exmouth RNLI to recruit a Volunteer Lifeboat Administrative Officer

A vacancy has arisen at Exmouth lifeboat station to recruit a volunteer to join their team to help save lives at sea, by providing co-ordination and administration as a key part of the Lifeboat Management Group (LMG).

The Lifeboat Management Group comprise team members from: Operations; Fundraising; Shop; Community Safety; Visits; Press and the Treasurer, meeting every quarter at station on Thursday evenings. The LMG represent the charity with events locally as far as Exeter and East Devon that require detailed planning by the volunteers from the station. Typical duties would be to co-ordinate diaries to ensure that volunteers and physical materials will be available when needed. This role will also be the primary contact point on general administrative matters of interest for the LMG and the lifeboat station.

Lifeboat Operations Manager, Kevin Riley MBE describes the ideal candidate:

‘We would be looking for somebody who meets the values of our charity: Selfless, Trustworthy, Dependable and Courageous. Training to fulfil your volunteer role will be provided: knowledge and previous experience of lifeboats is not necessary but an enthusiasm to learn about how our station operates is essential. We are looking to co-ordinate internal communication, so a degree of confidentiality is needed. All training will be provided.’

Chair of the Lifeboat Management Group, Simon Davidson adds:

‘I began my role three months ago, having retired from working in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in various diverse industries. This breadth of experience has involved me in many programmes to help businesses change and adapt, doing so through engaging and empowering workplace teams. Working with the volunteers at our busy station isn’t dissimilar. We’re from a range of backgrounds and ages with different skills, sharing a passion to save lives at sea. This is an ideal opportunity to join us, to give something back to the community.’

Please email Simon at chair@exmouthlifeboat.org.uk with a brief description of your experience to apply, or for further information on the role.
