More launches over Easter holidays

The Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew were called upon three times since the Easter weekend, twice in the inshore lifeboat and once in the all weather lifeboat.

On Thursday April 8th, at 5.43pm the all weather lifeboat Margaret Jean was launched to aid a local trawler who had suffered engine failure and had been towed by a smaller vessel but was unable to make significant progress.  The vessel was six nautical miles off Abbotsbury and 25.5 nautical miles from Exmouth. The volunteer crew took the trawler on tow and headed back to Exmouth arriving home just before midnight.

The inshore lifeboat George Bearman was called out to check on a couple of bodyboarders who appeared in difficulty close to some rocks at Orcome Point, Exmouth. A member of the public was concerned for their safety. The volunteer crew arrived on scene and found they had made their way back to shore. A false alarm with good intent.

On Sunday April 11th at 4.22pm Brixham Coastguards tasked the inshore lifeboat to aid a 50ft converted fishing vessel with two persons on board that had run aground in the River Exe on passage to Topsham. The volunteer crew were able to tow the boat off and escorted them back to Topsham
