Volunteers self-launch to assist two kitesurfers in difficulty

Crew volunteers self-launched D class lifeboat George Bearman at 1.20pm on 9 May to a kitesurfer in difficulty. The lady in her 20s had been caught up on number 8 buoy, 400m south of the lifeboat. Kitesurfers retrieved her kit whilst our Crew recovered her to the lifeboat.

En route ashore, another kitesurfer was found in difficulty, with kit wrapped around no 7 buoy. Volunteers also recovered the young man and dropped both casualties ashore.

Inshore lifeboat George Bearman was ready again for service at 2pm.
