Weekend Shouts

Exmouth RNLI volunteers attended three separate incidents over the weekend 15/16 May.

On Saturday 15th May at 2.40pm, the inshore lifeboat crew while out on exercise, were tasked by Brixham Coastguards to assist a broken down boat 14ft Fletcher boat that was drifting close to the beach at Budleigh Salterton. One of the lifeboat crew was able to resolve the engine trouble and the boat was able to continue its journey.

As the volunteer crew resumed their training they were asked to head quickly to Dawlish Warren where two young children were reported as drifting out to sea by their mother. The crew responded and found that, despite the winds being offshore, the children had been able to make their back to the beach unaided.

On Sunday, 16th May at 10.30am, the all weather lifeboat Margaret Jean was tasked by Brixham Coastguards to assist a 7.5 metre yacht near Sidmouth. Sidmouth rescue were on scene pumping out water and remained close by until the all weather lifeboat arrived to take them under tow.
