At 15.05hrs HM Coastguard requested the launch of Exmouth RNLI’s D-class inshore lifeboat, George Bearman II, following reports of a wing-surfer who had got into difficulty.
The wing-surfer was signalling for help which was spotted by members of the public and NCI volunteers who reported it to the HM Coastguard. The casualty then remained under constant observation by the NCI volunteers.
The Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew quickly launched the inshore lifeboat, George Bearman II, into choppy seas and made best speed to the reported location where they quickly made contact with the casualty who had managed to self recover to the beach.
The inshore lifeboat returned to the lifeboat station where it was washed down and re-fuelled, ready for the next tasking.
We are very grateful to the public and the NCI volunteers for being the eyes and ears on the coast.
