At around 05.30hrs a request to launch was received from H.M. Coastguard in order to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with what a statement from the Police described as a search for a missing person. Our ILB was launched less than 10 minutes later and our ALB followed shortly afterwards. The operation was described in the Police statement as involving both of our boats, the private Sidmouth lifeboat, 2 coastguard helicopters, H.M. Coastguard Search & Rescue teams and a Police drone. Our ILB returned at one point to refuel and then returned to the search. Our crews were stood down at around 12.30hrs. No further information is available. On the way back to base, our boats stood by as one of the helicopters rescued 2 people who had fallen from the cliffs near Littleham Cove.
