While on their weekly exercise on Wednesday night, HM Coastguard tasked the volunteer crew shortkly after 19.00hrsto reports of a 2 metre RIB drifting in the River Exe.

The Exmouth RNLI crew stopped their exercise and made best speed in challenging conditions, due to the strong South Easterly.Upon reaching the location it was discovered to be a ha;lf sunken boat which had been reported earlier in the day.

The Exmouth crew went on to complete their exercise and returned to the Lifeboat Station where the boat was washed down and refuelled ready for the next shout.

On this occasion, the shout was classed as a false alarm with good intent. We are very grateful to the public for being our eyes and ears on the coast. However, if you do have any concerns about someone on the coast or in the water, please do call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
