Author to sign Exmouth RNLI Lifeboats Book at WH Smith.
With Christmas only three months away, Alan Salsbury, an author and RNLI speaker based near Newton Abbot, is hoping people will be tempted to get a signed copy of his latest book ‘A History of Exmouth Lifeboats – Across the Bar.’ He will be attending a special book signing in WH Smith, Exmouth on Saturday 25th September from 2-4pm.
Live Launch after Opening
After a successful Opening Ceremony at Exmouth RNLI, and one in which the all weather Lifeboat was rededicated and blessed by Reverend Stephen Hoyle, both lifeboats were launched to give the guests a demonstration of a mock ‘rescue’. Just minutes after they finished and were heading back up the ramp the pagers went off for real and the visitors watched as the crew sprang into action.
Boat taking on water
Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew were tasked to the aid of a motor boat taking on water – about one mile out to sea at Budleigh Salterton on Tuesday 3rd August at 1.46pm.
Four inshore lifeboat shouts for crew volunteers
Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat crew were tasked four times in the past week, with some early morning and late night call outs.
Sea Sunday Service
Exmouth Town Band provided the music for the Sea Sunday service held at 3pm on Sunday 18th July at the new Exmouth RNLI Boathouse. The service was conducted by Reverend Stephen Langford.
Beavers’ Visit
On Monday 14th June the Ist Exmouth Beavers paid a visit to the new Exmouth lifeboat station at a time the crew were undergoing training assessments. This was fortunate in that the youngsters were able to watch the launch and recovery procedures of the all weather lifeboat Margaret Jean.
Search for Dinghy
Exmouth RNLI were tasked by Portland Coastguards on Sunday 6th June to search for a missing dinghy with two persons on board. Sidmouth Independent Rescue boat and the RAF rescue helicopter R-167 from Chivenor also joined in the search.
Estate Agent’s Donation
Philip Keddie, owner of Sunshine Rentals and chairman of the Devon Branch of the National Association of Estate Agents 2009/10 handed over a cheque for £300.00 to Exmouth RNLI recently.

Exmouth RNLI volunteers attended three separate incidents over the weekend 15/16 May.
Hoax Call
Exmouth RNLI late evening call out found to be a hoax – Exmouth Police, Coastguards and RNLI volunteer crew all responded to an emergency call from a man claiming to have found a body on the beach near Sandy Bay.

First Exmouth shout for Mersey class lifeboat Margaret Jean
Exmouth RNLI’s all weather lifeboat Margaret Jean was tasked by Brixham Coastguards on Wednesday, March 17th at 5.54pm after a Mayday call was received. This was the first call out for the all weather lifeboat since the new Exmouth RNLI boathouse became fully operational in November 2009.
