Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew were tasked by Brixham Coastguards on the eve of Sunday 18 December, after a man reported that his male friend has fallen down the cliffs at Orcombe Point.
The RNLI inshore lifeboat George Bearman launched at 5.59pm and the crew searched the area using a flashlight. The tide was low and they located the man at the foot of cliffs, on the west side of Rodney Bay at 6.03pm. One volunteer lifeboat crew member went on shore and was first on the scene. Local coastguards,police and paramedics arrived shortly after. Paramedics attended to the man until Portland Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 106 arrived some minutes later and transferred the casualty to the RD&E at Exeter hospital.
