At 15:54hrs, HM Coastguard tasked our D Class lifeboat, George Bearman II, to a windsurfer requiring assistance off Brandy Cove.
The Exmouth RNLI crew of three made best speed to the incident, navigating moderate seas with a swell of around 1.7 metres and westerly winds of approximately 18 knots.
On arrival at the scene, the windsurfer was quickly located and found to be safe, well and in control. The inshore lifeboat crew observed a number of other windsurfers on their way and ascertained that everyone was okay and enjoying good conditions!
The Exmouth RNLI crew returned to the lifeboat station where the D-class boat was washed down and re-fuelled, ready to go again when the pagers sound. The incident was concluded by 5.10pm,
On this occasion, the shout is classed as a false alarm with good intent. We are very grateful to the public for being the eyes and ears on the coast. If you have any concerns about someone on the coast or in the water, please do call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
