At 20.31 HM Coastguard requested our D Class lifeboat, George Bearman II, to a paddle boarder ‘waving’ for help off Sandy Bay.

The crew were soon on scene and quickly located the reported casualty who confirmed that they were not in difficulty.  Satisfied that all was well, the George Bearman II returned to the lifeboat station where it was washed down and refuelled, ready to launch again when needed.

This shout is classified as a false alarm with good intent. We always prefer to launch and find everything is safe than risk missing someone in need. If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
