At 23:51hrs HM Coastguard tasked our ILB, Gerorge Bearman II, to investigate the two orange flares seen off Straight Point.
Upon arrival at the scene the crew proceeded to search the area but, after a thorougfh search of the area nothing untoward was found and, with the approval of the Coastguard, they were stood down and started to make their way back to the station.
However, they were diverted by HM Coastguard to assist Devon and Cornwall. The situation was quickly resolved with the ILB returning to the station shortly afterwards
