At 20:47hrs HM Coastguard requested the launch of our ILB, Gerorge Bearman II, to reports of two swimmers in the water off Ladram Bay. The vessel they were on had suffered engine failure and was drifting away from the swimmers.

Just two minutes later, at 20:49hrs, our ALB, R and J Welburn, was also tasked to assist with the incident.

On arrival, the lifeboat crews quickly established contact with both the swimmers and the disabled vessel. With everyone safe, the ILB was stood down and returned to station and, after a full assessment of the situation by the coxswain, it was decided the safest course of action was to take the disabled boat under tow and safely return it to Exmouth Marina.

Both boats were washed down and made ready for the next launch with our volunteers heading for home shortly after midnight.
