While on exercise HM Coastguard tasked our All Weather Lifeboat, R and J Welburn, to a 22 foot motor boat in the river.
The vessel had engine failure, caused by seaweed being drawn into the seacock. While the anchor had been deployed, it was dragging.
After a full assessment of the situation by the coxswain, it was decided the safest course of action was to tow the vessel back to it’s mooring. One of our crew members was transferred to the motor vessel to assist in securing the tow line. The vessel was then returned to its mooring.
