At 19:36hrs HM Coastguard requested the launch of Exmouth RNLI’s relief D-class inshore lifeboat, to a tender with a failed shear pin.
An account of this rescue from the perspective of those on board the tender:
“Many thanks for last nights rescue. As the sun was setting and getting VERY cold, we had jumped into our tender to leave our mooring on the Exe only to find that a shear pinhad gone on our outboard. Two people and a dog, we could not row against the tide. So we grabbed a mooring buoy upstream and dialled 999. Within 30 minutes the RNLI had arrived on scene and took us safely back to Starcross. Thank you. These guys were from their soft warm couch at home to our rescue in minutes. Many thanks”
And thank you from us at the RNLI for such kind words.
