At 08:55hrs, HM Coastguard tasked our D Class lifeboat, George Bearman II, to a man in the water at Starcross.

The volunteer crew of three, who were preparing for the Remembrance Day parade in the town centre and were dressed ready to attend, executed a swift change of clothing, getting into their dry-suits,  and launching the inshore lifeboat.

The George Bearman II made swift passage to Starcross jetty, where a male had fallen into the water whilst securing lines on his vessel.  Fortunately, he was wearing a lifejacket and was seen falling by someone, who called 999 and alerted the Coastguard.  Arriving on scene at 9.15am, the Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew quickly brought the casualty ashore to a waiting ambulance where he was checked over.

The crew returned to the lifeboat station where the boat was washed down and re-fuelled.  And there was just time to re-dress and assemble for the Remembrance Parade to pay our respects to all those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
