    The Catherine Harriet Eaton was the first Exmouth Lifeboat to have an engineA self-righting lifeboat.  If it capsized, it could right itself in 4 secondsThe Inauguration Ceremony on the beach opposite the Lifeboat Station was attended by 8,000 people.

    Suffering engine failure when returning from a 25 hour rescue, the Lifeboat had to be towed home by a fishing trawler. 

    In 1948, Exmouth RNLI first used a tractor to launch the Lifeboat.
