- Like the ‘City of Birmingham’ 26 years earlier, this Lifeboat was bought for Exmouth by the people of Birmingham.
‘Forward’ is the motto on the Birmingham Coat of Arms.
Again, a special train brought RNLI supporters from Birmingham to the ceremony in Exmouth, but before leaving Birmingham New Street Station the Mayor also named the train engine ‘Forward Birmingham’
The keel is designed to totally enclose the propellers to protect them from any grounding damage.
