On Saturday 15th May at 2.40pm, the inshore lifeboat crew while out on exercise, were tasked by Brixham Coastguards to assist a broken down boat 14ft Fletcher boat that was drifting close to the beach at Budleigh Salterton. One of the lifeboat crew was able to resolve the engine trouble and the boat was able to continue its journey.

As the volunteer crew resumed their training they were asked to head quickly to Dawlish Warren where two young children were reported as drifting out to sea by their mother.
